Soluble in Carbon Tetrachloride. Strong water absorption. Decomposed by water and alcohol. Easily decomposed when exposed to light or heat. May explode when heated. White smoke is generated when exposed to air. As a strong Lewis acid, it can react with bases to make complexes and adducts. Strong corrosion and irritation to human body. Toxic vapors.
Applications
Electronic grade Boron Tribromide is a source used for P-type diffusion doping in manufacturing process of IC, solar cell and discrete device.
It is also the raw material of high purity Boron and other Organoboron compounds.
